News Update - 30th October 2003 (Hot news about upcoming concert!)
A group of Alice's close friends are arranging a Carol Concert to help raise money for the CFTrust. Tickets for the concert cost £15 and 100% of all money raised will go tothe CFT. It's happening on December 2nd from 7pm at St. Lukes Church, London.

News and Site Update - 24th October 2003 (Long awaited update on everything)
Ok, most importantly, the news: the Nine Lives Of Alice Martineau documentary has been nominated for another award, the RTS craft awards and surprisingly the winners will be announced for both the RTS and Grierson awards on the same day!
As for the rest of the news, I have recently got a job (YAY!) and it has slowed down my work on the update, so much so that I have decided to postpone the guide section once again (sorry!!) but I promise it WILL be done. so expect info on the date of the update very soon!
Site Update News - 6th October 2003 (News on the progress of the site update)
Just a quick news post to keep you all updated on the site update, I haven't shown any changes to the Update Progress for a while and theres a good reason for it!
I won't go into detail but I'm currently working on the "Guide" section (that's the section that is currently greyed out on the menu)
I've wanted a guide on the site since it's first appearance back in June, but could never think of a good way to implement it, so please be patient while I work on this big section!
As for its progress - So Far, So Good!
News and Site Update - 15th September 2003 (Documentary news and site update)
The documentary has run the gauntlet of the 5 judges on the nominating panel for the Grierson awards, now, 4 documentaries remain in each category, the winner already decided but not yet known until the awards night on November 17th. "The Nine Lives of Alice Martineau" documentary has made it through with 1 out of the 2 shortlisted entries being nominated for the final four! I've updated the update stats on the media page. It has got a bit more information now, and the update is moving a bit quicker, as soon as I can give an estimate as to when it will be finished, I will do!
News and Site Update - 11th September 2003 (concert news and site update)
Ex-royal princess Fergie (sarah fergie, once dutchess of york) announced today, live on air for Radio 2's Steve Wright show, that "In Alice's Memory, we are going to do a concert next year" - thankyou to DasWildthing for this information, please visit his site for further details on this! If you've been following the update report on the media page and noticed its not changed in a bit, thats true, I haven't got anything new to add just yet, but I am working on a couple of big parts of the site which are coming along very well, and should look very good once finished!
Site Update - 7th September 2003 (New POTM and Progress report)
With the update taking a long time, I've decided to put a progress report on the POTM page, so if you want to keep up to date on the progress of the update, click the media link in the menu and see how far its going! I know it's looking a little low at the moment, but the feature that has just been completed contains over 100 files, so you can see why I haven't listed them seperately as it wouldn't reflect how far the update is!
News and Site Update - 1st September 2003 (New POTM and other information again!)
I have a lot of things to say so I'll briefly state each one here: First off, I'm very sorry for the days the site was down, and not updated before or after, the problem has been rectified now! for the same reasons, the POTM hadn't been updated in some time.
there's still some problems with a few of the pages (the potm archives at least) which will be sorted asap This is kinda a long story so I'll start from the beginning: For a number of days mid august, I was unable to update the site due to connection problems. This was the case up till 19th august when the whole of the site became unavailable. what made matters worse was, I was starting my holiday the next morning. So, I was unable to say I would be away. As for the site being down, I notified the hosts immediately on seeing it, but it took a while for it to come back online (I couldn't have done much had I been here instead of norway apart from bug the liason to the webhosting co :) in the end, I'm back, the site is back, and the update is still being worked on, as u can see by the POTM!
News and Site Update - 5th August 2003 (New POTM and other information)
First things first, the petition has been signed by a number of fans, (THANK YOU!) but we still want more signatories, get your friends, family, co-workers etc to sign the petition!.
Secondly, there's a new POTM up, only a couple of hours late this time :) As for the rest, you may have noticed I haven't updated the site much (or put any new content up) in a while, this doesn't mean I am out of ideas, I am just regrouping for another big update. I haven't started yet, but once I have plans laid out etc, I'll see about a deadline and work from there, I'll keep you all updated as to what to expect and when as soon as I sort it out!
News Update - 31st July 2003 (BBC Petitioned to show documentary on mainstream TV)
Daswildthing has set up a petition online in a bold new initiative to let the beeb know, "We want to see the documentary on BBC1!!" Fans and viewers alike have called the BBC on numerous occasions asking them to play it on mainstream television but the BBC have yet to announce plans to do so. It is hoped that the petition will be a strong message to the BBC whose own awards team have nominated the documentary, so far shown on BBC3, for 2 of the famed Grierson awards.
Site Update - 28th July 2003 (New Pic of the moment and news archive)
I've added a new Pic of the Moment (sorry its another late one) and also added the news archive page which can be reached just above the counter and also from the menu. I used the background pic and colour from the links page as I like the pic and it its not big enough to warrant a new background :)
NEWS Update - 25th July 2003 (Documentary nominated for 2 awards)
The BBC Documentary about Alice Martineau, titled: "The nine lives of Alice Martineau", has been shortlisted for 2 Grierson awards. "Best documentary on a contemporary issue" and "Best newcomer". The nominations were put forward by the BBC Awards Unit, and both categories have been shortlisted to 10 and 8 nominations respectively. A panel will be selected to judge the nominations and choose 4 titles from each category -- including the winner, to feature in the awards night in November. The "finalist" 4 titles will be listed in September. A big thankyou to Daswildthing for finding out the news!
Site Update - 25th July 2003 (A lot of NEW content!)
2 new wallpapers, and 5 new pages in the about section, and 6 new pictures (pictures are on page 8) thats all the new content I have for the moment, but I have a number of ideas for more updates! 
News and Site Update - 21st July 2003 (New site and more content to come!)
in brief, the site has been updated extensively, and I have a lot of content to update the site with, new lyrics, new wallpaper, new images, articles, etc. There is a new link in the links section, a page at www.justgiving.com/alicem where you can make a donation to the CF Trust in memory of Alice.
Also a bit of instruction on the menu, if move the mouse over the links, they will open up a sub menu with further links within that section. its been tried and tested on the 3 main browsers so sorry if it doesnt work for you!
Site Update - 16th July 2003 (New Site layout takes shape!)
Welcome to the new Site layout, you will notice the menu and background pic have both been improved, and the layout for the news has totally changed, the news now has the "read more..." option.. 
The news can be a lot more flexible now, including the ability to show images (as you can see on the right) and comes with headlines etc, its easier to read, and easier for me to update.
Site Update - 16th July 2003 (Further info on the site update)
So, a lots changed, on the surface and behind the scenes so to speak, the structure of the site has been improved so the site should rank higher on search engines for searches for "Alice Martineau", it should also be easier to bookmark any page within the site.
The new menu allows you to reach a specific page in one click, and you will notice the two greyed out links which will be working asap! just a bit of useless info about the update: So far its taken 7 revisions of the front page and 18 revisions of the background image. The menu was originally designed to fade in and out but complications arose (which I spent several days fixing) only to find out the completed and non-buggy version was incredibly slow on slower computers and didnt work in netscape. needless to say this version is fast and works in the 3 main browsers.

If youre wondering where the old news (from the earlier site layout) has gone, I decided to put it into the archive section as its mostly outdated (the latest entry referred to my working on this update) so Im starting fresh with the news. the link to the archive section can be found below the last news item.

One Month! That's right, its one month to the day since www.alice-martineau.com started, we've had 454 hits in that time, which equates to an average of 15 hits a day, the site has been updated numerous times, and I have a lot more updates planned, watch this space!

The first update of July and its another BIG update! Now, where to start.. An interview with Alice has been added to the About Alice section, I've also made a few small updates to the general information page. I've put some links on the audio page in the multimedia section, I've put a new MISC page in the multimedia section, which has 3 different screen savers!! I also added a crossword game in the games page and a new extreme quiz, the toughest yet! and finally, a new feature for the site, Pic Of The Moment! I will try to update it weekly (but no promises or I would call it pic of the week heh) you can see it on the multimedia front page! a bit of side news, we're now listed on google and yahoo, a bit low down, but I'll get that fixed for their next cycle :)

news and small update: First of all the news, ***IMPORTANT*** JULY 6th 9pm - BBC3 - The Nine Lives Of Alice Martineau documentary. Don't miss it!! ok, I have another picture in the pictures section (page 8) I know its not much but I will promise more content will be here later (I was a bit late with this update esp the news as I had a computer to fix (not mine) and it took a few days) but needless to say I will make up for it, so please, tell your friends to watch the documentary, watch it yourselves, tell your families, tell your kids, your schools, everyone and anyone!!

Status update: Ok that was fairly painless, I have a temporary counter on the page (if you scroll down in here it should be doing its little thing) I'll put a real counter somewhere prominent when I get one I can host myself :) A few more minor changes to the layout and look of the site, and it's ready for viewing now with 7 minutes to go. All comments, suggestions, ideas, etc welcome if you want to click on the "contact me" link at the top :)

Status update: Well, its 10:37pm, 1 hour 22 minutes before site goes public, and I'm still adding the finishing touches, so far so good, the site is working and looking about right in most browsers and screen sizes. Just need to get a few more things done and then upload the latest update. ie has only crashed about 5 times in the past 2 hours while I was trying to find some pages but it seems stable n*&)£$"! *transmission ends*

Status update: Completed the lyrics section, have several pages for the "about Alice" section completed (just waiting on permission to use the pages now) so far 1 of 4 pages have permission to be used!

Status update: Ok! its taken 3 long days, but I've designed, re-designed, and finally completed the pictures section of the multimedia page! every picture has been tested and working, some of the images have been enhanced, the original and after images are together (you'll tell the difference, the enhanced ones have more colours) well, I'll update this lot and start on the rest :)

Site still in creation stage, the front page is finally coming together and the colours are beginning to look about right :) I wont list the page on any search engines until I have the site more or less together, and sort out the domain name and hosting. In fact, very few people know of this site's existance just yet. Lets hope that will change soon!

General update: I'm creating this website for people who dont yet know about Alice Martineau, an incredibly talented singer who died in march 6th 2003 from cystic fybrosis. I dont have much content to put on the site as yet, but I will contact a selection of sources and see what I can get, wish me luck :)
